Flower borders stuffed with colour and masses of roses out, some plants are 2 weeks behing due to the dreadful winter whilst others are spot on with normal seasons. The weather has been glorious and the
grass stopped growing with the dry weather!
Our EUCRYPHIA trees are coming into flower and will peak early to mid August.......truly beautiful trees
SWALLOWS arrived on March 31st - the only pair to nest this season. A second lot joined them and just sat around on the telegraph wires wondering what they should be doing right now - must be a pair of youngsters from 2009 8 weeks later they are still sitting there! Lots of other birds though. Spotted woodpeckers have been visiting regularly and the thrushes are singing every day with their youngster trying to decimate the snail populations. This week , yet again, Barney (our gardener) and I heard the skylark way above us - absolute magic.
Wildlife - still around are badgers digging for grubs, Roe deer have been right down by the house, they and the squirrels are so destructive it is a battle to protect our plants.
